Donald and Donna Adam Family Foundation Donates $500,000 to Support Saratoga Hospital’s Backstretch Clinic in Honor of John Hendrickson

Saratoga Hospital is honored to announce a generous $500,000 donation from the Donald and Donna Adam Family Foundation to benefit the hospital’s Backstretch Clinic. Made in honor of John Hendrickson, the donation will directly support medical services for the backstretch workers who care for the horses at Saratoga Race Course – advancing a cause to which John Hendrickson was deeply committed.
The gift will fund health care services for employees of licensed trainers approved to train horses with stables located at Saratoga Race Course. These workers often rely on the Backstretch Clinic and other Saratoga Hospital facilities for medical care during the racing season.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Adam Family Foundation for this meaningful donation,” said Jill VanKuren, Saratoga Hospital President and CEO. “This transformative gift directly strengthens the services we can provide to the backstretch community and will help ensure these hardworking individuals receive the quality healthcare they deserve.
Honoring John Hendrickson through this gift is a powerful reflection of his legacy and the Backstretch Clinic’s shared commitment to this mission.”
The $500,000 gift will help sustain and grow the clinic’s operations, expand access to care, and support a community that plays a vital role in Saratoga’s racing tradition.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, Saratoga Hospital ensures that all contributions to the Backstretch Clinic are used exclusively for medical services, with regular reporting to maintain transparency and accountability.
